Sally Davies Yoga

Qualified yoga teacher with 25 years’ experience of teaching

My yoga model, yoga for wellbeing

I have done Iyengar, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Vivekananda yoga therapy, yoga nidra and meditation. My teaching melds these to create a slow, mindful form of hatha yoga, where we focus on breathing. Holding postures allows the stretch to go into the deep muscle fascia and allows you to deeply relax. I always do a visualisation to finish. My aim is that you leave the class relaxed and grounded.

I love the esoteric side of yoga and teach meditation and guided visualisations with mudras (hand gestures). The techniques I teach can be practised at home. They help with stress and anxiety and by focusing on our body and breath we can slow our thoughts down.

Who can do this class?

This class is suitable for all ages and abilities. I offer variations depending on your ability. I encourage people to rest if they need to. You don’t need to be fit or flexible to come!

Do I need to commit?

No, you can drop in if you wish, or you can book a series of 4 classes to be used within 2 months.

Cost: £12 per drop in class, £42 for 4 classes. (booking form here – link)

My yoga journey

I was lucky to first do yoga aged 17 at school instead of games! I started seriously age 27 when working in London and immediately noticed how much better I felt physically and emotionally, and taller!

When I went on a holiday to an ashram in India in 1999 I felt I had found my passion. I loved the mix of postures, meditation and chanting. I spent 6 months in India doing yoga teacher training and intensive courses. Back in the UK I set up classes in Bristol and taught full-time for 6 years, then part-time.

In 2022 I stopped teaching to focus on counselling. I have never stopped doing yoga and meditation, it keeps me grounded and is a wonderful contrast to so much sitting still in counselling.I have run yoga and walking weekends around Bristol. I hope to set up more in 2025, so let me know if you are interested.
